The Webster Parish Police Jury has been selected as a recipient of the 2022 Keep Louisiana Beautiful Trash Receptacle Grant by Keep Louisiana Beautiful, the state’s premier anti-litter and community improvement organization.
This grant has provided funding to install high-quality trash receptacles in public spaces throughout Webster Parish. Ten (10) trash receptacles are being installed at five public boat launches in the parish and also at the Webster Parish Courthouse. Several were installed prior to Memorial Day weekend. This project will assist in the reduction of litter around our boat launches and Bayou Dorcheat waterway. The Webster Parish Police Jury is installing the trash receptacles and the WPPJ Litter Crew will maintain them.
“We are excited to have received this grant that will provide trash receptacles at each boat launch in the parish.” said Webster Parish Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness Director Brian Williams, who found and applied for the grant. “I’m excited to be able to help the WPPJ secure the trash receptacles for the citizens that use the boat launches to dispose of their trash when returning from the waterway. These will also benefit the growing number of kayakers that have been taking to Bayou Dorcheat.”
