The Third Time Will Be Super!

It’s round three for two former Webster Parish high school football stars on the game’s biggest stage in two weeks. Former Minden High star, L’Jarius Sneed and former North Webster standout, Devin White will meet on the field for the 3rd time in their careers, the second this season. The record is tied between the two, with White’s LSU getting the best of Sneed’s LA Tech in 2018 by a score of 38-21. White tallied 11 tackles, 4 passes defensed, a sack, and a fumble recovery. Sneed had 7 tackles and a pass defensed in the game as well. The two met during week 12 of the NFL regular season in November, with Sneed’s Chiefs squeaking out a 27-24 win.
While the two have played at the college and pro level, they never directly faced off in high school. Sneed was out due to injury to start the 2015 high school season and was not available for the first ever Minden/North Webster matchup. White had a big day on offense that night, gaining 225 yards on 25 carries and 2 touchdowns. However, Sneed’s Crimson Tide were able to hold off the Knights that night by a score of 27-24, knocking off, at the time, the number one ranked team in 3A.
Though Springhill/North Webster has the distinction of a former Heisman trophy winner, John David Crow in 1957; White represents, as far as our research can find, the first Springhill/North Webster player to play in the Super Bowl. Sneed will be the second for Minden High and with a win, would be the second former Tide player to sport a Super Bowl ring. Former Minden High standout, David Lee won one as a member of the Baltimore Colts in the 1970 season against the Dallas Cowboys. Ironically, both players also played their college ball at LA Tech.
We have reached out to both players and hope to hear from each of them soon. We are also planning on re-airing memorable games from both players next week. Be sure to visit our Facebook page to see when and what games will air.
Congrats to both players! Webster Parish is behind you!
