April WPSB Meeting Wrap-Up

The Webster Parish School Board meeting was held Monday evening, for the first time ever, virtually, using Google Meet. School Board members were provided Google Chromebooks so they can meet virtually while maintaining social distancing.
A number of expenditures were approved:
District 6 ½ cent Sales Tax Fund:
- Ratify approval of payment to Altec Environmental Consulting, LLC, invoice #658788 in the amount of $29,764.39.
- To purchase fifteen chrome books and one charging station from Detel Computer Solutions in the amount of $5,195 at Webster Junior High School.
- Purchase twenty-five laptops and two desktops from Detel for E.S. Richardson Elementary School in the amount of $29,097.00.
- Purchase and install four new Promethean ActivBoards with projectors and sound bar from AXI Education Solutions in the amount of $10,205.00 for E.S. Richardson Elementary School.
- Homeland Safety Systems to replace eleven storm damaged security cameras at Richardson Elementary for $5,866.30.
- Mechanical Cooling Services to repair the water chill pump at Webster Junior High School in the amount of $1,950.00.
Sarepta Maintenance Fund:
- Purchase 330 Chromebooks and eleven carrier thirty cart with baskets in the amount of $115,115.00 for North Webster Junior High School.
Doyline Maintenance Fund:
- Ratify approval of payment to Mechanical concepts for Emergency HVAC repairs at Doyline High School for invoices:
- S-2530 for $4,305.75
- S-2531 for $1,721.96
- S-2364 for $5,790.00
Consolidated 3 Maintenance Fund:
- Ratify approval of payment of $1004.50 to Mechanical Concepts for emergency HVAC repairs at Lakeside Junior/Senior High School.
- Ratify approval of payment of $1,596.40 to Lone Star Communications for emergency fire alarm repairs at Lakeside Junior/Senior High School.
- Diversifire to install a new Bogen Nyquist Phone and Intercom system at Lakeside Junior/Senior High School for $57,000 to replace the current system that has been damaged by lightning on multiple occasions.
- Hercules Ag and Outdoor to repair to repair and raise the cafeteria awning at Central Elementary School in the amount of $3,575.
- G&G Drywall and Construction to close in the moved principal’s office at Lakeside Junior/Senior High School for $12,721.31.
- Purchase a new Lazer Z X-Series 801 mower from Hol-Mont Sales for $10,269.21 for Lakeside Junior/Senior High School.
Changes were made to the following proposals:
- Change order proposal #007 requesting 29 additional calendar days due to inclement weather on the new parking and drive at Lakeside Junior/Senior High School.
- Change order proposal #008 requesting 21 additional calendar days due to inclement weather on the new parking and drive at Lakeside Junior/Senior High School.
- Change order proposal #009 requesting 15 additional calendar days due to inclement weather on the new parking and drive at Lakeside Junior/Senior High School.
- Change order proposal #010 requesting 15 additional calendar days due to inclement weather on the new parking and drive at Lakeside Junior/Senior High School.
During the Superintendent’s report, Superintendent Johnny Rowland noted that the district’s COVID-19 portal page is up and running (https://sites.google.com/websterpsb.org/wpsb-covid19-resources-portal/home) and encouraged the board to check out the page that offers updates, school feeding program information, resources for teachers and parents, and home learning links for each grade. Rowland then discussed what plans are for the district moving forward.
The next scheduled meeting of the Webster Parish School Board is set for Thursday, May 28th at 6 p.m. It is undetermined at this time if this meeting will be a virtual meeting or not, depending on stay at home orders.
