Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend Dorothy Mae Parks passed away on November 1, 2020. She was born the first of seven children to Alvin and Mamie Sparks on November 21, 1938 in Huntsville, Arkansas.

She acquired many dear friends and honorary family members through her work as a beautician and provider of in-home day care. Dorothy was the proud owner of “Hair Teasers” Beauty Shop in Minden, where she loved providing her clientele with hair services, friendships, and the latest gossip.

She enjoyed many hobbies in her lifetime such as bowling, playing cards, and watching her grandkids compete in sports. But one of her favorites was organizing the annual block party with her friends on Pecan View Drive.

Family was very important to her and she adored her husband of over 60 years, Dallas “Jack” Parks, who preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gregg Parks (wife Melanie), Jakki Hatchett, (husband Dwayne), and Chad Parks (wife Danna). She treasured her 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren: Valorie, Michael, Hailey (Tim), Jessica (Steve), Peyton, Patrick, Dave, Jack, Madison (Blaine), Cooper, Trent, Dalton, Jett, Josephine, McKenzie, Wyatt, Henry, Cameron, Koda, Finley, and Nora. Also Dorothy is survived by her sisters, Sharon Jackson, Janice Moore (Elmer), Peggy Ramer (Delbert), Barbara Ober (Carroll) and good friends: Zelda Harber, Jane Rogers, and Barbara Greer as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, William Sparks and Larry Sparks and two grandsons, Wyatt Parks and Finley Carty.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Minden Presbyterian Church.

Honorary pallbearers are Peyton Parks, Patrick Harber, Dave Parks, Jack Parks, Cooper Parks, Blaine McCoy, Tim Carty, and Michael Harber.
