Inez Windham Dykes

Written by on October 2, 2020

Inez Windham Dykes, 89, passed away on September 25, 2020. She was born in rural East Texas where she walked over two miles to and from elementary school every day. She moved to Cotton Valley, Louisiana where she graduated high school and met her husband of 69 years, Clarence Dykes.

Inez attended Centenary College and worked for Marathon Oil Company (CVOC) for 40 years, climbing up to office manager. During that, she also raised her only child, Greg Dykes.

Inez was a strong Christian and active member of First Baptist Church in Minden, Louisiana for 38 years. Inez loved to travel the North American continent with Clarence in their RV that her grandchildren lovingly called the “travel trailer.” They had many great adventures on the road, from the changing leaves in New England to the monarch butterfly migration in Mexico.

Most importantly, Inez was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband (Clarence Dykes), her son (Greg Dykes) and his wife (Kelly Dykes), her grandson (Greg Jr.) and his wife (Nikki Dykes), her granddaughter (Bethany Dykes Horner) and her husband (Andrew Horner), her great grandson (Asher Dykes), brother (Billy Windham) and his wife (Janelle Windham).

We are grateful for having her in our lives and even more grateful that she is now dining with Jesus, our Lord, in paradise. I can only imagine…

A graveside service for immediate family and very close friends will be held Saturday, October 2, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Gardens of Memory in Minden, Louisiana under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana. Officiating will be Rev. Steve Gilley.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 301 Pennsylvania Avenue, Minden, Louisiana 71055.
