March Police Jury Wrap-Up
Written by Mark Chreene on March 8, 2023
It was a light agenda for the Webster Parish Police Jury on Tuesday.
The Jury made two board appointments:
- Approved the reappointment of Emmette Jones to a 2-year appointment to the Evergreen Volunteer Fire Protection District expiring 12/31/24
- Reappointment of J.T. Rudisill to a 3-year term beginning 3/1/23-3/1/25.
The Jury heard from Wanda Finley with Webster Head Start, who reported they had recently been awarded a grant that allowed for funding for the newly formed Early Head Start Program. This program is for children ages 18 months to 3 years. Finley said that the program began in January and that they already have 56 children in the program. Finley noted that enrollment in Head Start is at 176.
Savannah Jones with the Webster Parish Library reported that the parking lot at the Minden branch recently was restriped. People counter machines were installed at some of the smaller branches in the parish. Jones noted that the Cotton Valley and Doyline branches had similar counts for February, with Cotton Valley tallying 638 visits and Doyline 632.
Allen Mosely, Webster Parish Coroner reported 47 deaths in the parish for the month of February, 27 OPCs (Order of Protective Custody) and 8 CECs (Coroner Emergency Certificate).
The next meeting of the Webster Parish Police Jury is set for Tuesday, April 4th.
